The First Nations Work Experience Program is an initiative that has been created by the Aboriginal engagement team of SPARK North East Link. Students interested in the construction industry will go on site visits and have direct conversations with Engineers, Designers, Environmentalists, Financers, Business Administrators plus more. If you would like to be part of Victoria's largest road project that connects North and South-East transport networks and learn more about the endless opportunities and career pathways in the construction industry, please share this opportunity with your teacher today. Skills You Might Learn

Whilst on placement the student will learn skills aligned with their VET studies including; • Discovering future career goals • Building up a network of contacts • Gaining good references for future opportunities • Applicable skills that transfer onto their studies Transferable skills that students may develop include • Communication • Teamwork • Working under time constraints • Self-managing skills

Typical Tasks & Duties

• Shadow the different teams on the project and participate in team tasks • Networking and meeting new people • Practicing new skills and knowledge • Gaining a stronger understanding of white-collar roles within the construction industry • Exploring career paths and potential opportunities within the business • Gaining knowledge of the different teams on the project

Student Requirements

• Available to First Nation students in Year 9, 10, 11 & 12 • No certificates required Placement could be suited to students studying subjects such as law, communications, environment, engineering, business management or related.

Dress Requirements

To be discussed directly with employer at interview. All PPE will be provided to students Casual/smart dress

Special Transport Requirements

Head office is a five-minute walk from Victoria Park Station and all other means of transport will be supplied to students during the work placement when going out onto sites.
