C&T Building
Work experience with a builder provides students with an introduction to the building and construction industry. It involves observing and assisting qualified tradespeople with tasks on residential, commercial, or renovation projects. Typical Tasks & Duties
Assisting tradespeople by passing tools and materials.
Helping with basic measurements and marking out areas.
Carrying and organising building materials.
Cleaning and maintaining the worksite.
Observing carpentry, concreting, bricklaying, roofing, and finishing tasks.
Learning about plans, drawings, and site management.
Shadowing supervisors and trades to understand the workflow.
Student Requirements
Interest in the building and construction industry.
Completion of required school work experience forms.
Understanding of basic numeracy and measurement.
Willingness to follow instructions carefully.
Physical fitness to cope with manual handling.
Dress Requirements
Steel-capped work boots (mandatory).
High-visibility shirt or vest.
Long work pants.
Hard hat (provided if required).
Gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection (provided or as required).
