Working with qualified tradespeople, you will gain valuable, practical, real-world experience in the workplace.
Students will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of the business. This placement will provide you with a range of opportunities to develop your skills while working alongside experienced industry tradespeople.

Typical Tasks & Duties

During your placement, you may undertake the following:
- Stack, store and inventory of materials
- Locate key features of a site plan as well as from sectional details and elevations.
- Carry out steel fixing and concreting to simple forms.
- Prepare the construction process for wall and floor tiling, solid plastering, drywall plastering, brick and block laying.
- Use hand tools
- Perform basic carpentry, demolition steelwork and painting.
- Labour for trades on site, given suitable supervision.
- Observe OH&S procedures on site
- Clean site equipment under supervision
- Apply safe handling and use of plant and power tools

Student Requirements

Some employers have specific requirements relating to student placements. These may include sending in a resume, sighting a current Working with Children Check (WWC), gaining parental permission for the student to travel with employer or attending an OH&S induction prior to commencing a placement.
