This new and exciting position gives the student the opportunity to be part of this promising new venue. The community owned venue is leased and ran by Mick and Jody, who have branched out from their catering business, Jody and Co Catering. The successful applicant will be exposed to all areas of hospitality including all areas of the hotel, as well as the catering business. The hotel has a bistro, cafe and large outdoor dining areas, serving fresh good quality food. The catering business has many varied and exciting events and there is never a dull moment! The applicant must have a genuine interest in this industry as they will be working alongside passionate industry professionals. The opportunity to learn and grow is on offer and the potential to be a permanent part of this exciting venture.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will assist trained staff in performing duties, students receiving high level supervision. Kitchen Hand tasks and duties may include food preparation, serving up meals, garnish preparation, cleaning dishes and other kitchen duties. Students will be responsible for the following tasks;

- Assisting trained staff with related food service and the sourcing, preparation and presentation of dishes.
- Engaging with customers as advised by staff.
- Completing all cleaning, preparation and opening and closing tasks as assigned by staff.

Student Requirements

Students are encouraged to consider a WE placement to develop skills learned from their school subject. The following requirements must be met;
- Students are required to have completed the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) modules- General module and any applicable industry OH&S modules.
- Students must maintain a diary or logbook and/or complete work experience assignment and other tasks that have been set by the school.
- Students must adhere to strict Privacy and Confidentiality policy and procedures.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions carefully and competently.
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as a productive team member.
- Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on offsite meal breaks.

Dress Requirements

Please discuss uniform requirements with the employer at the preplacement interview. Students will be expected to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the workplace, sturdy closed in toe and heal shoes are essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied by the employer for tasks involving cleaning and maintenance activities.

Special Transport Requirements

The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form.
