Community Projects Assistant
Uniting Vic.Tas (Wimmera)
This Structured Workplace Learning placement provides students with an introduction to residential care environments that support young people. Students will focus on administrative, program preparation, and practical support tasks, rather than direct care. By observing staff and assisting with behind-the-scenes work, students will gain an understanding of how residential services operate, how routines and activities are planned, and how professional teams support the wellbeing and safety of young people in care.
Skills You Might Learn
A student completing these tasks would gain a blend of practical office skills and confidence in preparing program spaces and community events. They would learn how to communicate with staff and participants, draft simple resources, and follow workplace expectations with professionalism. Regular shadowing and weekly reflections would help them understand client work, observe effective practice, and recognise their own growth. Exposure to partner services and outreach tasks would broaden their understanding of how agencies connect and how administrative work supports the wider service system.
