Ararat is a large regional centre north-west of Melbourne in the heart of Victoria. Strategically located at an important junction of several major highways, the city is a logical stopping off point for tourists exploring the nearby Grampians Ranges and Grampians Pyrenees wine regions.
The region is renowned for tourism, the production of world-class wines, agriculture and manufacturing, which collectively fire a buoyant regional economy. At Ararat Rural City Council students will be able to complete SWL placements that engage them in a wide variety of industry areas.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will be responsible for the following tasks;
- Assisting Ararat Library trained staff with related administrative and management activities
- Engaging with customers as advised by Ararat Library trained staff
- Completing all related tasks as assigned by Ararat Library trained staff
Student Requirements
The following requirements must be met;
- Students are required to have a keen interest in administration, management or community services
- Students must be able to spend extended periods on their feet
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work with a team
- Students must be completing a related subject or have displayed an interest in the area
Dress Requirements
Students undertaking a placement with Ararat Library will be required to wear neat casual clothing as appropriate for an office space.
Special Transport Requirements
The student will be required to arrange their own transport; if transport is presenting a problem please contact CGLLEN to discuss available options and support that can be provided.
