Are you interested in gardening and general maintenance? Do you like to use your hands and problem solve?
Rural Northwest Health has an opportunity to learn about maintenance and gardening at their Warracknabeal Hospital campus. The RNWH Warracknabeal campus provides a comprehensive range of acute, urgent, aged care, and a wide range of community health and allied services. You would be working with a team to ensure that the campus equipment is working and the organisation is safe, tidy and clean.

Skills You Might Learn

The student would gain employability skills in team work, communication, following instructions, time-management.
The manual skills gained would be gardening, environmental management skills, minor repairs of equipment, waste management and even painting. The skills gained will vary on what is required at the hospital at the time.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be shadowing team members during their placement. The student will complete a range of tasks as part of the role varying from painting, minor repairs of medical equipment, gardening, waste management and ensuring the hospital campus is looking the best it can for its patients and staff.

Student Requirements

Students are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude, genuine interest in the industry, and willingness to learn. They should be reliable, punctual, and present themselves in a professional manner appropriate to the workplace. They must be able to follow instructions, ask questions when unsure, and respond constructively to feedback. A commitment to workplace health and safety, respect for supervisors and colleagues, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Dress Requirements

Students are required to wear a high vis shirt and closed toe, non-slip boots (preferrable steel cap). Hair is to be tied back and no jewellery is to be worn. Workpants suitable for maintenance work will be required. No ripped jeans or leggings.

Special Transport Requirements

This placement is in Warracknabeal. Students are to make their own travel arrangements to attend the placement.
