This work experience placement provides students with an opportunity to explore careers in education and early childhood development. Students will observe and assist teachers in a primary school setting, gaining insights into classroom routines, child development, and the daily operations of a school environment. The experience encourages communication, patience, responsibility, and teamwork while working with young children from Prep to Year 6

Typical Tasks & Duties
Assisting teachers with classroom setup and organisation. Supporting small group activities such as reading, writing, or art projects. Helping supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions between activities. Assisting with basic resource preparation such as photocopying, cutting, laminating, or tidying classroom materials. Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting children in following routines. Observing classroom management strategies and learning techniques used by teachers.
Student Requirements
Completion of a Work Experience Agreement Form signed by student, parent/guardian, and school representative. Completion of the Safe at Work test and certificate gained and signed by students principal at their school. A genuine interest in working with children and supporting learning. Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to follow teacher instructions.
Dress Requirements
Neat, clean, and modest clothing appropriate for a school setting. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for standing and moving around. No offensive logos or slogans on clothing. Long hair should be tied back when working closely with children.
Special Transport Requirements
Students are responsible for arranging transport to and from the school. Public transport may be available depending on the location—check bus or train timetables before placement begins. Ensure safe drop-off and pick-up points if being driven by a parent or guardian.
