A placement opportunity exists for an enthusiastic student to work alongside experienced and friendly renderers. If you are strong, and working as a renderer appeals to you, we'd like to hear from you. Go Top Render has built a reputation for providing surface coating protection and finishing services for the interior and exterior walls of residential and commercial buildings. It also provides fence and retaining wall rendering, re-rendering and facade makeovers, specialist cladding and foam systems, as well as surface repairs and restoration.

Skills You Might Learn

Students on placement would expect to learn the following:
- how to prepare the surface
- mixing materials, spreading wet coats onto walls and ceiling
- plumbing and straightening, as well as finishing techniques.
- tool maintenance.

Typical Tasks & Duties

As a student you will be assisting professional renderers with preparing and coating exterior and interior building surfaces with cement, acrylic, or polymer-modified finishes to create protective and decorative facades. Specifically, you will be assisting with inspecting and clearing walls, removing old plaster or loose material, fixing corner beads, and applying bonding agents or mesh reinforcement to brickwork, blockwork, or lightweight cladding. You will also be involved in preparing accurate mixes of sand, cement, lime, acrylic, or texture coats according to project specifications and manufacturer guidelines. You will be applying base and finishing coats using trowels, hawks, and straight hedges, plumbing and straightening corners, angles, and wall surfaces to obtain a uniform thickness. You will be involved in texturing and finishing; repair and remediation; and ensure work complies with Australian Standards and Victorian Workplace Health and Safety regulations.

Student Requirements

Students on placement would be expected to be reliable, physically fit, and willing to learn basic preparation and application tasks under supervision. They would also be expected to participate in cleanup and maintenance and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Dress Requirements

Students must wear protective clothing, safety footwear (steel cap boots), hat and sunscreen.

Special Transport Requirements

It will be the student's responsibility to meet the employer on site. However, Elias can pick up students from Roxburgh Park station and give them a lift to the work site.
