This is a fantastic opportunity for a student with keen interest in gardening, plants and horticulture to undertake a structured workplace learning placement. The student will have the opportunity to gain a vast range of experience and gain a nationally recognised qualification.The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre Inc. (SRHC) was formed in 1983 by a group of railwaymen from the former Seymour Locomotive Depot which was closed under rationalisation of rail services in Victoria. Undertaking an SWL placement with SRHC will see you work alongside the team and gain a vast range of experience that will complement your study in gardening and general maintenance.

Skills You Might Learn

During your placement, you will gain a vast range of skills including:
- An introduction to gardening and horticulture
- Knowledge of the industry and plants
- Hands-on practical experience
- Teamwork and communication
- Manual handling practices
- Employability skills

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will gain a vast variety of exposure to the horticulture industry. Your tasks and duties may include, but will not be limited too:
- Gardening and maintenance
- Weed control
- Garden establishment

Student Requirements

Students should have a keen interest in the horticulture industry and a willingness to learn. Students will be required to email Lena at the CRLLEN to express an interest in a placement (lena@centralrangesllen.org.au). Emails should include a covering letter & resume, requested dates for placement, type of placement and identify any relevant VET courses the student is undertaking.

Dress Requirements

Students should be dressed appropriately for duties in the surrounding gardens and grounds.
