This is a rare opportunity to work with an experienced and highly skilled plumber! Taking up this opportunity you will work across the three main areas of the trade, this includes plumbing, roofing and gas fitting. You will increase your skills and knowledge in the field of building and construction with this hands on opportunity with an experienced local plumber. There is potential for an apprenticeship offered to the student who shows genuine interest and willingness to learn.

Skills You Might Learn

You will learn how to flare/cut/crimp/weld water and gas pipe, along with handling and installing metal roofing.

Typical Tasks & Duties

You will focus on the across three main areas of the trade, this includes plumbing, roofing and gas fitting. Students are not likely to be permitted to do any roofing work unless deemed safe by the employer. General laboring duties will be required such as assisting trades person, passing tools, mark out materials and carry out leveling etc.

Student Requirements

You don't need a lot of experience but you do need a genuine interest in the trade and have a willingness to listen and follow instruction. You are required to have an ability to follow up on requests from the plumber, have a basic understanding of hand tools, upholding safe work practices, common sense in decision making and asking questions if unsure of how to go about what you are instructed to do.

Dress Requirements

You are required to supply your own navy work pants, steel capped work boots, plain black polo shirt and a plain black jumper. You must keep a neat and tidy appearance at all times.

Special Transport Requirements

All work will be off site so arrangements will need to be made with the employer. Arrangements can be made to be picked up from Noble Park station in the morning and dropped off to Noble Park station in the afternoon, otherwise you are required to be dropped off and picked up from the office in Noble Park. Depending on where the work is located, starting times are from 6:30am – 9:00am.
