Would you like to work with early childhood teachers who use their training, knowledge and experience of early childhood development to plan an individually based program that promotes children to grow and learn in a safe, happy and stimulating environment? Learn from early childhood teachers who follow children’s interests, capitalize on their achievements and recognize spontaneous learning experiences. Utilizing photographs to show families what and how their children learn each week and inviting parents to include their comments in the week’s program evaluation process. Individually designed programs are developed for all children.
Skills You Might Learn
You will have the opportunity to identify and implement health and safety practices for children under 6 years of age, including hygiene practices, meal routines, sleep and rest. Teamwork, communication, problem solving, time management and experience with all pre-school age groups will be acquired as part of your placement along with improving your industry awareness, and understanding cultural preferences. You will observe,assist and develop individual programs for children, develop positive and respectful relationships, assist with their health and safety and interact positively with infants, toddlers and parents. You will also learn the importance of promoting the health and well being of children through healthy food, snacks and drinks, etc.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Assist staff to set up and pack up activities for education and play, learn about hygiene, observe behaviour patterns in children at various ages and stages in their development. You will be involved in hands on help with naming and hanging up artwork, preparing children for outdoor activities, engaging in meaningful play, wiping tables and tidying up after activities.
This opportunity would suit a student who has a desire to work with children, believes they have something special to offer and has positive work place attitudes and ethics. To work with children you will need to have a positive friendly manner and use language suitable to children.Good time management and an absolute desire to work with children is essential.
Discreet jewellery, long hair tied back, flat supportive shoes, dress suited to working with children such as black pants with a T shirt or top, to be discussed at interview.
Special Transport Requirements
Students must provide own transport to and from the office site. Public transport is available with the bus stop out the front.
