A local, family owned business that has been in the industry for over 30 years. They now employ 50 staff and run 22 trucks, ranging from local, interstate, intrastate, general freight and refrigerated transport. This IT placement allows students to be based at the Tatura depot and work alongside the IT and scheduling team. Students will gain an insight into how IT and software is integrated into the transport industry and learn about the day-to-day operations of a successful local company.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will gain experience in the tech-enabled side of scheduling heavy vehicles and freight operations, specifically programming the tablets and using relevant industry software. The student will also have an opportunity to learn workplace communication, safe work practices and how to cooperative effectively as part of a skilled local team. Duties may include;
- Identify and adhere to OHS procedures relevant to the industry and organisation
- General tech support and troubleshooting duties
- Assist the IT and scheduling team with daily activities
- Use of relevant software and equipment
- Cleanup of office as required

Student Requirements

A genuine interest in IT devices, software, or transport and logistics is ideal. The student will be willing to learn new skills and take pride in tasks undertaken. The employer values good communication skills, teamwork, punctuality and initiative.

Dress Requirements

Business attire or smart casual, as well as a neat and tidy appearance are required.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will require own transport. Public transport to Tatura will need to be researched.
