CFA District Mechanical Workshop.

The CFA workshop is a very well equipped and maintained workshop. Staff are supportive of the SWL program and offer a range of learning experiences for students. The OIC is keen to take students as they have not had a student placed with them for quite some time.

Skills You Might Learn

The student will have the opportunity to experience the following; using hand tools to assist in a job, perform basic mechanical tasks and work as part of the team.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Tasks in this work placement are focused around students assisting staff with the repair, servicing and general maintainance of CFA vehicles and pumping equipment. Duties will also include maintainance of the work area and tools and equipment.

Student Requirements

The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place plus sturdy work boots.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will need to organise their own transport to work as there is no public transport in the area.
