Their vision is to enrich the lives of people in their care. With multiple sites, maintenance is a key role, focused on preventative rather than being reactive and on a needs basis.
Skills You Might Learn
Typical task and duties include but not limited to, working along trained staff to:
- provide varied stimulating activities for the residents
- ensure residents are participating in those activities by engaging with them
- communicate with the residents
- help setup and pack up activities
- learn daily report writing that may be required
- learn OHS and requirements of the role.
Students may have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on work placement. These may include valuable general employability skills such as:

Students may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies such as:

- Liaising and working with colleagues, bosses, customers/clients and suppliers.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Typical duties may include but not limited to;
- using basic hand tools as required
- fixing anything from door handles, changing batteries in equipment, assisting gardener to keep the grounds clean
- problem solving the best solution
- documentation required when break downs occur
- general tidiness of the facilities.
Student Requirements
Students should be keen to help out, have a good work ethic, be comfortable working outside when required and happy to talk to residents around the facilities.
Dress Requirements
Students should wear trade pants, high vis top and work boots. Other PPE equipment will be provided when required. Students should wear a sun smart hat in the warmer months.
