A great opportunity in Front of House Operations as a Food and Beverage Attendant Assistant is available at Mildura Dockside Café.

The Mildura Dockside Cafe is open Thursday to Monday from 8:30am-4pm, for breakfast and lunch or for coffees, cakes, refreshments. We are fully licensed on the beautiful Murray River!

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain an understanding of and develop the basic skills related to working in the Hospitality Industry – Food and Beverage Service.

Students will learn to work in a team, communicate effectively in the workplace, be punctual at all times, present at work in appropriate work attire, follow instructions, complete work with attention to detail and adhere to OH&S requirements at the work place.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will observe and spend time under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified Front of House staff assisting with general food and beverage service tasks and duties in a unique cafe setting.

Tasks and duties may include assisting to prepare for daily service at front of house, safely manual handle catering produce and products, safely manual handle crockery, cutlery and glassware at the service area, clean and maintain the work areas including servery, floor and dining tables and apply OH&S requirements for the Hospitality Industry - Food and Beverage Service.

Student Requirements

Whilst the student is attending the work experience placement they are expected to:
• Show a genuine interest in Hospitality Industry - Food and Beverage Service.
• Food Handlers Certificate, please note: obtaining the Food Handlers Certificate is required prior to attending the work experience placement.
• Be neat in appearance, maintain a high level of personal hygiene, willing to observe, listen and learn while working in our team.

Dress Requirements

The student must be well presented as front of house staff work in full view of customers.
• Flat, non-slip, enclosed black work shoes.
• Black pants (knee length, no leg ins).
• Black plain t-shirt.
• Long hair must be tied back, nails must be kept short and clean.
• Good personal hygiene.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Student to arrange own transport to and from work.
