Skills You Might Learn

Understanding all aspects of fitting and installing automotive seat covers. Problem-solving to determine work methods in accordance with standard automotive practices. Students will gain technician skills according to ability and willingness to apply knowledge. Skills of team work, workplace communication and safe work practices will be attained.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Fitting and installing automobile seat covers and convertible-tops. Examining standard pattern or removing automobile seats or tops and measuring to determine the amount of cover material required. Cutting material, using a pattern and transferring to seat or frame. Marking material with chalk to indicate where it is to be sewn, reinforced, and decorated. Securing completed covers, using tacks, staples, and pliers. Each day you will be provided with a duty list to check off and ensure the efficient running of the workshop.

Student Requirements

Must have a keen interest in learning of fitting and installing seat covers. Cooperate and get on well with others working cohesively within a dynamic team. You will be expected to have a good work attitude - being respectful of the supervisor, team, and equipment. Arrive at work on time and always call (before your standard start time) if you are running late or unavailable to attend work due to illness. You will be required to agree to company policies and procedures. Take responsibility and pride in your own work, delivering the highest standards at all times

Dress Requirements

Protective clothing, safety footwear, overalls, clean neat & tidy appearance.

Special Transport Requirements

If you are at the Dandenong train station use buses 857 and 890. From there you have 9 stops to reach Rodeo Drive, from there you need to walk 750 meters (around 9 minutes) to reach the destination. You can use your own transport also.
