Typical Tasks & Duties

Student to focus on understanding customer’s needs,
As a Retail Services Assistant in a large retail outlet your work would include customer service, operating point-of-sale equipment as well as stock operations which will include sort and place merchandise on shelves. You would also be responsible for ensuring the retail store and is kept orderly and clean, and that goods are secured properly displayed and stored. Will require focusing and learning product knowledge and potential to create displays or present merchandise to maximise sales target.

Retail Services tasks include;

Student Requirements

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:
Students with a positive attitude towards customer service with a creative mind set who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VETDSS subject in Retail.

Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in arts and craft, be sociable with good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Log Book to the work placement every day.

Dress Requirements

• Neat casual dress with enclosed comfortable foot wear. No inappropriate slogans or ripped clothing.
