Five placement opportunities exist for enthusiastic male and female students to work alongside experienced and friendly people with the Dynamic Group. The Company will offer in-house training in concreting, excavations, cartage, pumping and carpentry. If this placement proves successful, the company may offer an apprenticeship.

The Dynamic Group works closely with residential and commercial owners and their builders to ensure every stage of projects they undertake such house slabs, earthworks, driveways, pathways, and concreting is completed on time and on budget. Their team of workers is efficient and professional, every step of the way. Students will be have the opportunity to be involved in providing a complete range of residential and commercial slab construction services and excavation / earthworks to ensure buildings are built on strong foundations, are energy efficient, resisting mold, termites and other pests.

Skills You Might Learn

The students will learn skills in placing, finishing, protecting and repairing concrete in construction projects. As a potential concrete finisher the students may also assist with setting the concrete forms, ensuring they have the correct depth and pitch. They will observe other workers smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters, patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints. In a normal day, they will monitor how the wind, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The students will be required to assist with site preparation, placing formwork, steel fixing, concrete pouring and finishing. They will also assist in the erection of cladding and fit out of new buildings as well as assisting in general maintenance of equipment. On a daily basis, the site supervisor checks the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed. Sets the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, and align them.

Student Requirements

The students must be willing to learn and develop new skills. Must be honest, enthusiastic, hard working and reliable. The students are also expected to be able to follow instructions, ask questions when needed to ensure understanding, and pay attention to detail. Students must possess problem-solving skills and have good communication skills. They must maintain safe practice at all times.

Dress Requirements

Steel capped boots and appropriate attire for working in a construction site

Special Transport Requirements

Students will be meeting the employer on site or may arrange to meet employer at an agreed location.
