Skills You Might Learn

Customer service and a willingness to learn will be the key to your success with AusVi. We take pride in our customer service which is a big part of our business philosophy. Students will start with front of house tasks, and move to essential food preparation, inclusive of bakery skills if interested.

Beyond that, you will have the opportunity to learn skills aligned with your VET studies including;
• Hygiene practices and food safety.
• General workplace safety.
• Use of food preparation equipment.
• Basic cooking skills.
• Kitchen cleaning requirements.
• Maintenance of perishable items and food storage.
• Effective teamwork and time management.
• Food service

Typical Tasks & Duties

While at AusVi, students will get the opportunity to learn front of house skills, as well as cooking and food preparation, depending on your area of interest. All you need is an enthusiasm to learn about food and hospitality and we can teach you! There is even a fully qualified pastry chef on site if making breads and pastries is your passion.

Student Requirements

Placement suited to students studying a certificate qualification in one of the following;
• Hospitality
• Kitchen Operations

The key to success will be in how you approach this opportunity. This employer is seeking students who are genuine about working in the Hospitality industry. You must be reliable and punctual with good communication skills. Be willing to ask questions and learn, and to take instruction. This employer can teach you what you want to learn about hospitality so don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Special Transport Requirements

Venue is close to bus and train access, with plenty of parking also available.
Student must organise own transport to work site.
