Rare Earth Hair is a luxury hairdresser located in Richmond. They are happy to host students interested in hairdressing.

Placements are available Tuesday - Friday (Saturdays optional) for either one day per week or week blocks throughout the school year and during school holidays and are 5 days long with the potential to extend if both parties agree.

This placement could align with your Certificate II in Salon Assistant through the following units of competency:
SHBHIND001 Maintain and organise tools, equipment and work areas
SHBXCCS003 Greet and prepare clients for salon services
SHBHBAS001 Provide shampoo and basin services

Skills You Might Learn

Communication skills, teamwork, customer service, product knowledge, blow drying, exposure to hairdressing booking systems and washing hair.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Shampoo hair, keeping the salon clean and tidy, making customers’ tea/coffee, general housekeeping, greeting customers, getting equipment ready for the qualified hairdresser and assisting other staff members as required.

Student Requirements

Keen to pursue hairdressing in the future, creative flair, open to learn, passionate and energetic.

Dress Requirements

Closed-toe shoes. Rest to be discussed at the meet and greet.

Special Transport Requirements

Close to public transport.
