Typical Tasks & Duties
Students may undertake tasks and typical duties only if they are completing a relevant VET qualification and the structured workplace learning will allow them to obtain or further develop the skills and knowledge outlined in a relevant unit of competency within the qualification. Students may assist or observe trained staff with the following activities: - Preparing site for landscaping construction and basic labouring duties. - Assisting trained staff with related landscaping activities. - Engaging with customers related to landscaping activities as advised by trained staff. - Completing all related tasks as assigned by trained staff. - Hands on learning through duties that require manual labour. - Students will work as part of a team on a variety of work sites, specifically, using tools and landscaping equipment will be a big part of a student's working day (equipment and tools described in the performance criteria or assessment requirements of a unit of competency).
Student Requirements
- Students must be completing a related subject or have displayed an interest in the area of gardening and landscaping services. - Personal mobile phones are not required during work hours. Mobile phones or devices are only to be used during meal breaks and out of work hours.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear working clothes plus high visibility gear appropriate for the work place as well as sturdy work boots. Long hair must be tied up and a broad brimmed hat worn during the warmer months.
