Construction assistant
McGregor Portables provide flexible building solutions. They build portables in the Keilor Park area and have experience hosting students from local schools. This is a one day a week opportunity for a student studying building and construction. Students would be assisting in the fabrication of portable buildings.
Skills You Might Learn
SWL students gain confidence working in a team and assisting in the fabrication of portable buildings. They will gain skills using a number of different hand tools and equipment.
Typical Tasks & Duties
A SWL student would be asked to assist with a wide range of duties. A student usually starts off with basic observation and housekeeping (cleaning) which everyone helps with. Over time more demanding tasks are introduced such as hanging doors, putting walls up, measuring and other supportive tasks as required by the team. There may be occasions where a student will be asked to travel to a site in order to deliver and install a portable building
Student Requirements
Students with a can-do attitude will be able to get a lot of experience and acquire a wide range of skills
Dress Requirements
Students must wear steel-capped boots to work. A short -sleeved top with High Vis stripe will be provided by the employer
Special Transport Requirements
There is no public transport to the factory site. The SWL student will need to make their own travel arrangements
