South East Local Learning and Employment Network
The South East Local Learning and Employment Network (SELLEN) is a community managed regional network made up of local organisations in Melbourne’s South East. Working to give Secondary Students opportunities to successfully move through the education system to employment. SELLEN develops strategies and facilitate initiatives through private, public and community partnerships, to empower young people to engage in education assisting them to achieve smooth transitions and improved life chances.
The South East Careers and Try a Trade Expo is SELLEN’s largest annual event. This major event brings together universities, TAFEs, RTOs, community service organisations and industry to speak with local secondary school students about post school education and employment opportunities. Students can engage in hands-on activities, with an extensive range of exhibitors in attendance.
This position is a short-term opportunity to develop your creative industry or volunteer skills as you assist with the execution of the South East Career Expo 2025.
Skills You Might Learn
Students without any prior experience will learn valuable industry and employability skills. This is a great opportunity for students studying a VET Creative Industry course to build on their skills and knowledge. Skills which may be developed in this placement include:

• Customer service
This is a great opportunity to be involved in the execution of a large event.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Typical tasks and duties students may be involved in include:
• Event set up
• Participant table allocation
• Welcome students and guide to entry
• Assist facilitation of VR headsets industry experience
• Record attendance
• Collect student feedback
Other duties as needed and directed.
Student Requirements
Students will be willing to learn and have a genuine interest in Event Management or volunteering. Being able to work in a team environment is important. This student will be required to attend on the actual day of the South East Career Expo which is Tuesday May 13. Students will be given a description of what is required prior to the event.
Dress Requirements
Dress code is neat casual with closed in shoes
