Hand Brake Turn

In Term 3, students will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on work placement with Hand Brake Turn, a respected training provider in automotive and engineering fields. The placement will run on Thursdays and offer a broad overview of the automotive industry. The placement is open to 12 students, split into two groups of 6. Each group will attend a 5-week placement, allowing for more focused training and engagement.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in mechanical trades, engineering, or automotive careers to build real-world skills in a professional workshop environment.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Participants will gain practical experience across a range of areas including:

Student Requirements

Students selected for the Hand Brake Turn placement must be available on Thursdays during Term 3 and have an interest in automotive or engineering. They should be prepared to work in a hands-on workshop environment, follow safety instructions, and commit to attending all five sessions. Suitable attire, such as enclosed shoes and clothes that can get dirty, is required. Students should also demonstrate basic teamwork and communication skills.

Dress Requirements

Closed sensible shoes and pants. Clothes that students are ok with getting dirty. If students currently own steel cap boots, they are encouraged to wear them.

Special Transport Requirements

Hand Brake Turn can help to facilitate transport to the placements including local pick up/drop offs or having a meeting point at sunshine station.
