Alkane Resources Costerfield provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience working alongside qualified Heavy Diesel Fitters responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy mining equipment. Students will gain an understanding of preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and workshop operations within a mining environment.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Tasks allocated will vary depending on the student's capabilities. Students may:

- Observe servicing and maintenance of heavy mining equipment.
- Assist with preparing tools and equipment.
- Support workshop housekeeping activities.
- Observe mechanical inspections and repairs.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Follow workplace safety procedures.

Student Requirements

Students should:

- Have a genuine interest in heavy diesel or mechanical trades.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- Be reliable and punctual.
- Follow instructions and workplace procedures.

Dress Requirements

Long sleeve shirt, long work pants and steel-capped safety boots are required. Additional PPE will be supplied where required.

Special Transport Requirements

Students are responsible for arranging transport to and from the mine site. Private transport is recommended.
