Skills You Might Learn

The opportunity to develop a broad base of skills necessary to maintain and service motor vehicles. This solid grounding in automotive maintenance and repair will provide the student with a head start in gaining an automotive apprenticeship. Working with power tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business. Liaising and working with colleagues, manager, customers/clients and suppliers. Application of safe working practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

As a Mechanic's Assistant the student would be expected to perform a variety of tasks assisting mechanics to repair, operate and refurbish vehicles. You will install, repair and replace mechanical parts in automobiles and gain knowledge of automobile processes and composition.

The daily routine also includes clean up and preparation for the day ahead. Followed by working closely with the Motor Vehicle Technicians on site. The student will be expected to carry out duties using safe practice at all times and having regard for the safety of customers, fellow employees and themselves.

Student Requirements

John is seeking a student who is keen and displays initiative. Someone who is not shy to ask a question when in doubt. The student must be focused, punctual and reliable. Able to follow instructions and to be courteous and positive. Follow safe work practices.

Dress Requirements

Appropriate clothing for auto workshop and steel capped boots
