This is opportunity is with a small hydraulic repair and engineering business, predominately serving the farming and excavation sectors.Students will benefit from the welcoming environment as management is a supporter of the SWL program. Because it is a small business an enthusiastic student will have the chance to be involved in a broad range of tasks. This definitely is a placement for those who are hands on.

Skills You Might Learn

The student will have the opportunity to experience the following, using hand tools to assist in a job, perform manual and mechanical shaping and apply basic fabrication techniques. Gaining a basic understanding of hydraulic equipment and its repair will also enhance students mechanical and engineering skills.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students in the position will assist the supervisor in a range of tasks to complete basic fabrication techniques and hydraulic repairs.They will tidy work sites and produce basic engineering components. The student will be required to be an active participant in all work place practices.

Student Requirements

The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place plus sturdy work boots.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will need to organise their own transport to work as there is no public transport .
