Second Chance Animal Rescue

Second Chance Animal Rescue is a non for profit organisation that re homes dogs and cats. You will be working with a small team of dedicated staff and a number of other volunteers who all have a passion for animal welfare. You will learn a wide variety of skills while taking care of dogs and cats.

Skills You Might Learn

Animal handling skills and observation of health / behavior of animals. Understanding of how to minimize spread of disease through proper handling and disinfecting.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Assisting a SCAR volunteer on a dog walk and / or yard play. Cleaning cat rooms, learning and completing observations, general cleaning including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, dishes, laundry etc.
Walking dogs or yard play with animals.

Student Requirements

Good understanding of dog and cat body language. An interest in working with dogs and cats. Have the ability to follow instructions, problem solving skills. Ask questions or for help when needed . Use initiative. Work as part of a team or autonomously.

Dress Requirements

Comfortable fully enclosed shoes.No skirts or dresses permitted.
