This Engineering company, based in Croydon South, manufactures custom parts by using the latest CNC machines from a wide variety of materials. You'll be involved in the creation of parts which may used in aeroplanes, precision surgery or even military use. Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Brass, Aluminium and Engineering Plastics are the most common materials machined, along with titanium, nickel alloy steels and precious metals. State-of-the-art production equipment comprising Swiss Type CNC Lathes, Twin Spindle Conventional CNC Lathes and CNC Machining Centres are used in order to service industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Metering, Scientific, Services, Security and Government.

Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain valuable experience in the industry and be exposed to specialised tasks such as the making of a range of high-precision parts from a range of metals. Other skills that students will have the chance to build include teamwork, following project designs and developing organisation and time management strategies.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will follow and observe expert engineers in the use of a range of machines and tools as part of the manufacture of small, precision products. Tasks might include material preparation, job pre-setting, machine programming, machine setting, part packaging and dispatch. Other tasks may include the exposure to the design phase, cleaning and applying safe work practices. A real chance to see cutting edge work being done locally!
