Rubi Hair in Malvern is happy to host students for SWL at their salon. Rubi Hair provides a wide range of professional services to their clients, including keratin treatments, hair extensions, styling and colouring. Please check out their website for more information: http://www.rubihair.com/

Placements are available Tuesday - Friday for either one day per week or weeks blocks throughout the school year and during school holidays and are 5 days long with the potential to extend if both parties agree.

This placement could align with your Certificate II in Salon Assistant through the following units of competency:
SHBHIND001 Maintain and organise tools, equipment and work areas
SHBXCCS003 Greet and prepare clients for salon services
SHBHBAS001 Provide shampoo and basin services

Skills You Might Learn

Communication skills, teamwork, customer service, product knowledge, blow drying, exposure to hairdressing booking systems and washing hair.

Typical Tasks & Duties

You will have the opportunity to maximise your skills and knowledge during your time at the salon, with the Manager happy to identify your strengths and ensure you gain the maximum benefit from your experience. Duties may include: Shampoo hair, keeping the salon clean and tidy, making customer’s tea/coffee, general housekeeping, greeting customers, getting equipment ready for the qualified hairdresser and assisting other staff members as required.

Student Requirements

An interest in the industry, open to learn, passionate and energetic.

Dress Requirements

Professional Attire – All black.

Special Transport Requirements

Close to public transport.
