Southern Way's skills for life proghram supports young people with a disability in their transition from school to adult life. The young at heart program offers support to people with a disability who have complex or aging needs.Programs are community based and provide a variety of options for leisure adventure and outdoor activities.
Skills You Might Learn
The student will gain skills in how to support the delivery of activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of those in their care.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Student will asssit the qualified staff in the group based activities day program. Student will assist with leisure, adventure and outdoor activities. Cooking, morning and afternoon tea outings, and recreational activities will be part of the tasks the student will be involved with.
Student will need to be patient, flexible and understanding, have a supportive and caring nature, commitment to the rights of people with a disabilities to live dignified lives.Student wlil need to have good communications skills, able to accept responsibility, able to work with the team at Southern Way. A police check is necessary for this placement.
Student to abide by the appropriate dress code of the educational body and Southern Way.Polo top with school logo on it is essential, plus neat jeans or black pants. Flat or sports shoes are necessary.
Special Transport Requirements
The day program commences from the Jetty along Lake Petrobe road and the student may have to meet the team and clients there.
