Also an ability to provide customers with one off jobs, such as a new profile or replicating an existing profile. Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain valuable experience in the industry and be exposed to specialised tasks such as the manufacturing, sharpening and grinding of a range of high-precision parts from a range of metals and carbide. Other skills that students will have the chance to develop include working with others in a manufacturing / engineering related environment, applying principles of occupational health and safety in the work environment and following instructions under supervision and developing organisation and time management strategies.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will observe expert engineers in the use of a range of CNC machines and tools as part of the manufacturing of saws, cutters, knives and drill bits. Dependent on a students skills and initiative, tasks may include material preparation, sharpening and grinding of metal and carbide, machine programming, machine setting, part packaging and dispatch. Other tasks may include the exposure to the design phase, cleaning and applying safe work practices. A real chance to see cutting edge work being done locally!

Steel capped boots are required and long hair must be tied back. Students should wear suitable work attire for the industry and workplace.
