### Aged Care Assistant - LEISURE & LIFESTYLE ASSISTANT ###
This is a wonderful SWL opportunity for a student who is keen to do a lifestyle assistant placement working at a Aged Care facility. As part of the lifestyle team you will be working with staff to deliver daily lifestyle activities to the residents such as:
- Arts and crafts
- Knitting
- Music
- Bingo
- Walks
- Board games
- Gardening
As well as a variety of fun activities to encourage to residents to keep active and engaged. You will need to be willing and wanting to work in an aged care environment, have a caring and empathetic nature and be wanting to learn.

Skills You Might Learn

Students may build skills in:
- OH&S in an Aged Care environment, in particular the importance of good health and safety practices within and aged care environment
- Participating effectively in the work environment
- Communication skills and team work skills
- Customer service skills
Students will receive insight and knowledge relating to Age Care polices and procedures. During this placement students will gain experience of working within a team.

Typical Tasks & Duties

You will be working with the Lifestyle team:
- Assisting with activities for the residents
- Assisting with setting up the activities space as well as general cleaning duties
- Assisting with cleaning duties; wiping down, clearing and cleaning the activities space.
- Assisting the residents

Student Requirements

Preference will be given to VCAL VET students who are studying a Certificate in Community Services and or VCAL students who have a keen interest in wanting to working in the Aged Care and or Community Services Sector.
Students must be:
• Keen to learn
• Wanting to work in an Aged Care environment
• Be mindful and respectful of working in an aged care environment which can often be quite sensitive.

Dress Requirements

Normal work attire, including:
- Non-slip closed toe shoes (no ballet flats)
- Black business pants (no jeans)
- Plain white short sleeve polo top (no t-shirts)
- Hair should be neat, if long it should be tie back away from the face
- Please ensure students take along their school ID card with them to placement as they will be required to wear it as their identification tag during work placement.

Special Transport Requirements

Check VLINE transport to Cobram. Centre located in central business district (near public pool).
