The receival facilities are widely recognised by grain producers and grain marketers as market leaders in providing reliable, dependable, customer focused service. CHS Broadbent is equipped to handle supply chain requirements from bulk storage of grains, pulses and oilseeds, the road transport of bulk commodities, containerisation of grain including packing and delivery to Port. This is a terrific chance for a student to learn hands on manual labour skills, customer service skills and agricultural skills. Typical Tasks & Duties
Students may assist or observe trained staff with the following activities:
- Assisting trained staff with related customer service tasks as instructed.
- Engaging in manual labour.
- Completing all tasks as assigned by trained staff. This position will include duties such as helping the workplace supervisor and other employees to assist them in their roles (students are to undertake tasks in accordance with the Work Experience Guidelines, considerations must be given to the hazards associated with the use of plant or equipment). Students will be expected to be an active participants in all workplace practices under the supervision of the workplace supervisor. The business has a large team and this gives the student an excellent chance to be hands on a lot of the time in a variety of job roles.
Student Requirements
Students are encouraged to consider a WE placement to develop skills learned from their school subject.
The following requirements must be met;
- Students are required to have completed the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) modules- general module and any applicable industry OH&S modules.
- Students must maintain a diary or logbook and/or complete work experience assignment and other tasks that have been set by the school.
- Students must adhere to strict Privacy and Confidentiality policy and procedures.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions carefully and competently.
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as a productive team member.
- Students must have displayed an interest in Agricultural services.
- Students must display great initiative to complete student assigned work tasks and duties.
- Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on offsite meal breaks.
- Privacy and Confidentiality policy clauses prevent personal mobile phones usage while interacting with staff and clientele of CHS Broadbent.
Dress Requirements
Students undertaking a placement will be required to wear work pants/shorts and safety boots as appropriate for a Agricultural position. All Personal Protective Equipment required to complete daily tasks and duties will be discussed with the student as part of the placement induction.
Special Transport Requirements
The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form.
