Pinnacle Commercial Laundry Service operates from the Ararat Laundromat and employs 48 people with a disability who enjoy the same working conditions as those in the general workforce. The Commercial Laundry Service provides a broad range of cleaning, including domestic ironing as well as fulfilling a number of laundry cleaning contracts for local businesses, including the Ararat RSL, hotels, motels, restaurants, catering committees and hairdressers. With friendly and welcoming staff and volunteers, the laundromat is a hub of activity and ready to host workplace learning students who are keen to learn more about Australian Disability Enterprise business services. Skills You Might Learn
Students may have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on placement. These will include valuable general employability skills such as:
- Laundry operations and equipment handling.
- Quality control and safety procedures.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Time management and efficiency.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will assist trained staff in performing duties:
- Operate laundry equipment (washers, dryers, ironers).
- Sort, fold, and iron laundry items.
- Load and unload laundry trolleys.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation.
- Monitor equipment for malfunctions.
- Adhere to safety and hygiene standards.
Student Requirements
Students are encouraged to consider a WE placement to develop skills learned from their Work-Related Skills subject. The following requirements must be met;
- Students must adhere to strict Privacy and Confidentiality policy and procedures.
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as a productive team member.
- Students must be able to spend extended periods on their feet.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions.
Dress Requirements
Students undertaking a Pinnacle Inc placement will be required to wear neat casual clothing as appropriate for a business service- comfortable clothing and closed in toe and heel shoes.
Special Transport Requirements
The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form. If a student is required to stay at accommodation other than his or her normal place of residence while undertaking work experience, the student or parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for making suitable arrangements and must complete the Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form.
