Locally owned and operated in Ararat, Watts Plumbing and Roofing has an opportunity for an interested student in the Building & Construction Industry, specifically interest in the Plumbing trades. Watts Plumbing caters for private and commercial plumbing services and roof maintenance and installation. With a small team of plumbing professionals, a student will learn skills and travel the Central Grampians district to assist with a variety of jobs from fitting taps to construction of new plumbing systems. - Earthmoving and drainage processes and safety procedures.
- Fabrication and design of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- General maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Experience a broad range of plumbing jobs and tasks in a professional environment.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students may assist or observe trained staff with the following activities:
- Assisting trained staff with related plumbing and construction activities, such as, cleaning and clearing work sites.
- Engaging with customers related to plumbing and construction activities as advised by trained staff.
- Completing all related job preparation tasks as assigned by trained staff.
Student Requirements
The following requirements must be met;
- Students are required to have a keen interest in the Building & Construction Industry.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions.
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as an effective team member.
- Students must be completing a related subject or have displayed an interest in plumbing.
- Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on meal breaks.
Dress Requirements
Please discuss with the employer at the preplacement interview. Protective, industrial Clothing including safety boots will be required.
Special Transport Requirements
The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form.
