In this placement students will have the chance of hands-on practical experience in the automotive field. As well they will be observing and learning from qualified and experienced professionals. Management is very supportive of the SWL program and staff are friendly. Students will be operating in an orderly, modern and well equipped workshop.
Skills You Might Learn
The use of basic mechanical hand tools and mechanical processes will be learnt. As well students will learn workplace communication in real life scenarios. They will also assist with car servicing and the maintenance of workshop facilities.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Tasks will be around assisting other employees in their roles and the student will be expected to be an active participant in all workplace practices. They will work as part of a team while under regular supervision.
Student Requirements
The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place plus sturdy work boots.
Special Transport Requirements
Students may need to organise their own transport to work but there is a bus service in Swan Hill.
