Lake Bolac Information and Business Centre is a not-for-profit association, dedicated to providing helpful information travellers and community services to locals in the Lake Bolac region. The services include access to an extensive range of library books and magazines, DVDs and digital resources for the local community, visitor information, historical displays and guide services, photocopying, laminating, and internet. The local Bendigo Bank branch and the Treasure Hunters Hall are co-located and will provide students with networking opportunities. - Working in real-life scenarios and environments.
- Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business.

Typical Tasks & Duties

During your placement, you may undertake the following:
- All aspects of customer service, observing and taking part in customer services, depending on level of competency.
- Welcome clients and converse in a friendly, customer service manner.
- General cleaning, sweeping and set up and pack away tasks.
- Prepare displays and set for meeting room bookings.

Student Requirements

Students are encouraged to consider a SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VET course in Business Administration/Information and Technology and/or Tourism.
The following requirements must be met;
- Students are required to have completed the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) module in the relevant VET course.
- Students must adhere to strict Privacy and Confidentiality policy and procedures.
- Students and volunteers are expected to read and understand the expectations of a student placement and must read and sign all Student/Volunteer requirements.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions carefully and competently.
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as a productive team member. This includes notifying the workplace supervisor and the careers teacher of any planned or unplanned absences.
- Students must display great initiative to complete tasks and follow instructions from their workplace supervisor.
- Students are required to have a keen interest in community services or sports and recreation.
- Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
- Respect other people’s belongings.
- Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
- Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course or school subject.
- Take their Workplace Learning Record and/or have course assessment tasks to complete at work placement every day.
- Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on meal breaks.

Dress Requirements

Students undertaking workplace learning will be required to wear neat casual clothing as appropriate for an office space. All PPE must be worn in accordance with workplace health and safety policy and procedures. Dress requirements to be discussed at the host interview.

Special Transport Requirements

The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Structured Workplace Learning Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form.
